Madrid is putting hip-hop culture on the centre stage this year as the Madrid Urban Fest returns from October 30 to November 14, celebrating the history, creativity and evolution of Spain’s urban scene.

The festival will bring together music, art, dance and street culture, the festival explores the foundations of hip-hop while recognising how the movement continues to evolve in a rapidly changing digital world.

At the heart of this year’s programme is a celebration of hip-hop’s origins and the communities that helped shape it. Visitors can explore an exhibition tracing the history of hip-hop, take part in graffiti-focused activities and experience breaking events that highlight the energy, skill and individuality at the heart of the culture.

But Madrid Urban Fest is about more than looking back. Its central theme also considers how digital culture is transforming the way urban communities connect, communicate and express themselves. As social media and online platforms create new opportunities for artists to share their work and reach audiences, the festival invites visitors to reflect on what might be gained – and what could be lost – as hip-hop moves further into the digital age.

From the streets to the galleries and dance floors, hip-hop has always been rooted in creativity, identity and community. Madrid Urban Fest offers an opportunity to revisit those foundations while celebrating the artists and new generations keeping the culture alive.

Ultimately, this event is a way to remind us that hip hop may be evolving, however the concept is still based around expression, individuality and uniting everyone.
