The longtime creative collaborators who recently announced they are back making new music are now taking one of hip-hop’s most recognisable titles from the studio to the coffee counter.

More than two decades after Clipse and The Neptunes turned “Grindin’” into one of hip-hop’s defining anthems, Pusha T and Pharrell Williams are giving the word a new life — this time in the form of coffee brand.

The pair have teamed up with Italian coffee institution Lavazza to launch Grindin Coffee, a brand built around the daily rituals of creativity, discipline and getting to work.

For Pusha and Pharrell, the connection is personal. Coffee has long been part of their creative routine, with early mornings, studio sessions and long days forming part of the process behind their music.

That mentality sits at the centre of Grindin. Rather than positioning coffee simply as a lifestyle accessory, the brand is built around the idea of coffee as fuel for the people who keep moving — whether that’s in the studio, office, gym or on the road.

The collaboration also brings a significant piece of their shared musical history into the present.

Released in 2002, Clipse’s “Grindin’” was produced by Pharrell and became a defining moment for both the Virginia rap duo and The Neptunes. Its sparse percussion-heavy production became instantly recognisable, while the title itself evolved into shorthand for hustle, ambition and relentless work.

Now, that same cultural currency is being poured into a different kind of product.

Grindin Coffee launches with two blends: a Medium Roast and a Dark Roast, available as whole beans and ground coffee. The Medium Roast is made from 100% Arabica beans from South America, with tasting notes including bittersweet chocolate, caramel and roasted hazelnut. The Dark Roast combines Arabica and Robusta beans sourced from Central and South America and Southeast Asia, with cocoa, caramel and spice notes.

Working with Lavazza gives the project a level of coffee expertise that separates it from a conventional celebrity-branded product. The Italian company, which has been operating for more than 130 years, provides the coffee heritage behind Pusha and Pharrell’s cultural vision.

The move also feels natural within the wider worlds occupied by both artists.

Pharrell has spent decades moving between music, fashion, design and luxury, while Pusha T has built a similarly distinctive identity around music, streetwear and contemporary culture. Grindin sits comfortably at that intersection — part coffee, part lifestyle brand, and part continuation of a creative partnership that has already produced some of hip-hop’s most enduring work.

And that’s perhaps the appeal of the project.

For a generation that grew up with “Grindin’”, the word already carries a history. Now it comes with a morning ritual.
